Garner Products: The First US-Made ETL Listed Degaussers and Destroyers

Garner adds UL, IEC, and CSA Safety Conformity to our CE Certification

Data center managers know the devices they bring into the DC must meet the highest standards for facility and operator safety. Garner Products, Inc., leads the data destruction industry in product safety by being the first and only U.S. hard drive degausser and destroyer manufacturer to obtain certification of our products to UL, IEC, and CSA safety standards from a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Our products are also independently tested for conformity to CE standards for safety and emissions for the European Union. These U.S. and international certifications identify Garner’s products as safe for your employees to operate in data centers, hospitals, offices, and other sensitive environments around the world.

How did Garner achieve the ETL Certification?

Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL), an NRTL accredited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the U.S. government, authorized Garner Products to apply the ETL Mark to its products. The ETL Listed Mark indicates that Intertek has extensively tested Garner’s products and found them in compliance with operator, manufacturing, and electrical safety standards established by OSHA and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). In addition, our products and our production process must undergo quarterly inspections to ensure we continue to adhere to the established safety standards and are compliant with component traceability requirements.

Why does the ETL certification matter?

It comes down to safety. Garner’s extensive product testing and certification to OSHA standards make for a safer workplace for your employees and for the protection of your facility assets. Our degaussers and destroyers have been tested to ensure they have proper safety features:

  • Units are compatible with in-house power
  • Units do not create a risk of tipping over
  • Wires are encased in fire-rated materials
  • Systems have thermal protections
  • Units are fault tested to ensure safety features properly activate
  • Internal components are NRTL rated
  • All components can be traced to their origin

To maintain the ETL listing, unannounced on-site inspections are performed quarterly by Intertek engineers to ensure continued compliance with current safety standards.

Fun Fact:

Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) was founded 125 years ago, in 1896, by Thomas Edison.
