2021 was a successful year for Garner. We are grateful to our employees, customers, and business partners for believing in our mission of preventing data breaches through proper IT asset disposition. In 2021 Garner saw continued demand for our data security equipment as governments and companies recognize the need for hard drive degaussers and physical destroyers to protect sensitive information. Our company is excited to share how this demand has led to significant company growth in 2021.
New Machining Technology for Garner in 2021
Get ready for higher production output for 2022. In 2021 Garner got its own new foam factory! We added a CNC router to our manufacturing capabilities in 2021. The CNC router has allowed us to make in-house all our custom configured foam packaging inserts and cases.
We also just invested in a high-output horizontal CNC mill with a pallet changer to expand the capabilities of the machine shop. CNC mills cut, shape, and engrave materials like aluminum, steel, and plastic. The new mill can operate in “lights out” mode, meaning it can keep producing products between shifts.
Garner’s other investment was several 3-D printers. These are a game-changer for prototyping and put us at the forefront of additive manufacturing.
New Employees for Garner in 2021
Garner Products, which started as one man in a garage in 1959, saw growth in new hires this year. We feel fortunate to be able to attract various types of talent as we grow and expand our company and production capacity. We welcomed new employees in engineering, machine shop, production/assembly, sales, and marketing.
New Certifications for Garner in 2021
Garner leads the data destruction industry in product safety by being the first and only U.S. hard drive degausser and destroyer manufacturer to obtain certification of our products to UL, IEC, and CSA safety standards from a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL), an NRTL accredited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the U.S. government, authorized Garner Products to apply the ETL Mark to its products. The ETL Listed Mark indicates that Intertek has extensively tested Garner’s products and found them in compliance with operator, manufacturing, and electrical safety standards established by OSHA and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Our products are also independently tested for conformity to CE standards for safety and emissions for the European Union. These U.S. and international certifications identify Garner’s products as safe to operate in data centers, hospitals, offices, and other sensitive environments around the world.
Continued International Presence
In 2019, Garner was recognized with the President’s “E” award by the U.S. Department of Commerce for contributions to the expansion of U.S. exports. In 2021, Garner’s data elimination products continued to be utilized in over 120 countries around the globe.
Happy Residents of Roseville
Garner moved to Roseville in 2003, making 2021 our 18th year here. We’ve had a long-lasting positive relationship with the city and the county, which gave us advice on safe operating procedures to keep our business up and running during Covid. We were fortunate to remain open and fully functioning during all of 2021.
Looking into the New Year
Although worldwide supply chain challenges are expected through 2022, our vertically integrated manufacturing process (doing the manufacturing process in-house to minimize reliance on outside vendors) is providing us with a great deal of protection from supply chain disruptions. We’re well-positioned for another good year and we look forward to greeting it head-on!
